The Lakeshore Podcast is back and our Vinyl Specialist Tony Giles caught up with Graham Reynolds, composer of A Scanner Darkly!  A Scanner Darkly, an adaptation of the Philip K. In this edition of Throwback Thursday, we revisit A Scanner Darkly Soundtrack–film directed by Richard Linklater!  Using a technique called interpolated rotoscope to produce its distinct animated aesthetic, the film is adapted from a novel by Philip K. #TBT Revisiting The ‘Tropic Thunder’ Soundtrack + Myspace Memories!

We revisit action-adventure film Tropic Thunder starring the really, really, ridiculously funny Ben Stiller (Zoolander), Academy Award® nominee Robert Downey, Jr. (Iron Man 3), Jack Black (The D Train), Brandon T. Jackson (Fast & Furious), and Jay Baruchel (TV’s DreamWorks Dragons).  Lakeshore Records was there for all the fun in 2008, with a dedicated Myspace page and all!  The Tropic Thunder score album, various artists soundtracks (both on Lakeshore Records) and the movie are available now on iTunes.  Read further for the soundtrack preview and more.

Lakeshore Records Pick Of The Week: ‘Zodiac’ Starring Jake Gyllenhaal

This week’s Lakeshore Records Pick of the Week is Zodiac, a soundtrack which features an eclectic mix of great musicians and groups from periods past: Johnny Coltrane, Donovan, Eric Burdon & The Animals, Isaac Hayes, Johnny Mathis, Marvin Gaye, Miles Davis, The Four Tops, Three Dog Night, Santana, Sly & The Family Stone, and more!  Directed by David Fincher (Se7en), this film (rent it on iTunes) takes its viewers back to the period between 1968-1969, when the infamous killer, “The Zodiac” terrorized the San Francisco Bay Area.

Starring Jake Gyllenhaal (Source CodeDonnie Darko), Mark Ruffalo (Reservation Road) and Robert Downey, Jr. (A Scanner Darkly), The interplay between the three characters: an obsessed cartoonist-amateur detective, newspaper reporter and Police Inspector, respectively, adds to the tension and frustration built by one of the country’s most infamous unsolved murder mysteries.
