Listen to this exclusive interview between director Jay Roach and composer Theodore Shapiro, who give us a behind-the-scenes “look” at their collaboration for Trumbo!  The Golden-Globe®-nominated film about Dalton Trumbo, the celebrated Hollywood screenwriter whose principled refusal to name names to the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC) earned him 13 years in purgatory as a blacklisted writer.

They spoke about the challenge of scoring a period film without it feeling stuck in the era, scoring music to the character of Dalton Trumbo; the use of the prepared piano, and more.  You really get an insight into the director-composer relationship in scoring films!  Listen now (below) as they reminisce on their fourth feature film collaboration!
